YALON WORLD CUP (1999, 52min)

The Yalon World Cup is a film about the 1998 World Cup, as seen through the story of the fans of the Brazil team.

This documentary was filmed mostly in Brazil, and is a personal expedition carried out by the director Yalon Gurewitz, a “sabra” who was born in a desert town in Israel.

Gurewitz himself a dedicated fan of the Brazilian team, set off to document the reaction of Brazilian fan’s to the World Cup from the beginning all the way to the final game.

The film represents a return to the director’s childhood love of soccer, a personal journey back to early memories.
